Assistant Fire Chief Brian Gonzalez began his career at St. Lucie County Fire District in 2000. His education includes a bachelor’s degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University as well as an associate degree in Emergency Medical Services from Indian River State College.
He has served on several fire district committees, including Safety, EMS Operations, EMS Guidelines, Medical Review Board, and Strategic Planning. Chief Gonzalez is a Certified District Manager (CDM) through the Florida Association of Special Districts.
As the Assistant Fire Chief, Chief Gonzalez is second-in-command of the fire district and assists the Fire Chief with long-range planning, budget preparation and collective bargaining. He is responsible for the daily operations of the fire district and serves as senior member of the district’s management team. Chief Gonzalez is responsible for all activities of the fire district in the absence of the Fire Chief.
Chief Gonzalez and his wife of 20 years, Andrea, are the proud parents of four children: Seth, Jonas, Helena, and Gabriel.
