Back to School Shoe Event

Hosted by St. Lucie County Lil Feet in conjunction with the Fire District and Firefighter Benevolent

St. Lucie County – St. Lucie County Lil Feet and the St. Lucie County Fire District (SLCFD) along with the Firefighter Benevolent are teaming up for two upcoming Back to School Shoe events.

Children that have been vetted and identified through the St. Lucie County School District have received a voucher (invite) to attend one of the following events and will receive a new pair of shoes to start the school year.

Payless has agreed to open up their stores before hours. Lil Feet Board members and local Firefighters will be on hand to help the kids pick out shoes.

1. Sunday Aug 5   Payless 140 California Blvd PSL

2. Saturday Aug 11 Payless 2061 S. US1, Ft Pierce

Lil’ Feet began in 2009, when a local firefighter and his crew responded to a fire alarm at a daycare center.  It was a false alarm, but while at the center Firefighter Fred Barbera noticed a child with holes in his shoes.  Later that day, he and another firefighter went to a local store and bought the child shoes and socks. Since then, Lil’ Feet has provided thousands of pairs of shoes to children throughout St. Lucie County.

The Lil Feet mission is to provide new shoes to children in need so that they can run, play, and learn in comfort and with dignity; allowing them to focus on performing, rather than their circumstances.
