Lil’ Feet began in
2009, when a local firefighter and his crew responded to a fire alarm at a
daycare center. It was a false alarm,
but while at the center Firefighter Fred Barbera
noticed a child with holes in his shoes.
Later that day, he and another firefighter went to a local store and
bought the child shoes and socks. Since then, Lil’ Feet has provided thousands
of pairs of shoes to children throughout St. Lucie County.
The Lil Feet mission is
to provide new shoes to children in need so that they can run, play, and learn
in comfort and with dignity; allowing them to focus on performing, rather than
their circumstances.
