Communications Division
Emergency Operations Center2

The Communications Division serves as the central communications hub for the St. Lucie County Fire District and is often the public’s first point of contact during an emergency. Public Safety Telecommunicators receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch the appropriate fire and EMS resources, and provide pre-arrival instructions through the Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) system.

Communications personnel coordinate and monitor Fire District resources throughout St. Lucie County, ensuring that the appropriate units are dispatched quickly and efficiently. Telecommunicators track incidents in progress, coordinate additional resources when needed, maintain system coverage, and communicate critical information to responding personnel and partner agencies.

To support emergency operations, the Division utilizes advanced technology, including Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software, Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs), and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems. These tools allow Telecommunicators to identify the closest available resources, monitor unit locations in real time, and support the efficient delivery of fire rescue and emergency medical services to the community.
