Overview
The St. Lucie County Fire District is an independent special district of the State of Florida and operates separately from St. Lucie County, the City of Fort Pierce, and the City of Port St. Lucie. The District is governed by a Board of Commissioners that serves as the policy-making body for the organization.
The Board of Commissioners appoints the Fire Chief, Clerk-Treasurer, and District Attorney to oversee the District’s operations, finances, and legal affairs.
The Board is comprised of seven members: two members of the St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners, two members of the City Commission of the City of Fort Pierce, two members of the City Council of the City of Port St. Lucie, and one member appointed by the Governor of Florida.
